With the new version, stereoscopic depth feature with dual cameras was introduced in supported devices. Users will be able to experience more immersive augmented reality thanks to the new update.

Pixel phones will be the first to benefit

ARCore currently uses only one camera of the devices. With the latest update, it will start using the phone’s two cameras to know how to best place objects on the screen. Using two cameras, better depth perception will play an important role in the acquisition.

In the release notes on the Google Developers page Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL It is stated that dual camera support will be available in the coming weeks. There is no information available for other devices yet.
