Kia shared new clues about the next-generation electric car EV6. New Kia EV6It will be the first Kia model to use the E-GMP (Electric-Global Modular Platform) platform.

Special nomenclature for electrical models

In addition to using a new design language, the South Korean manufacturer has followed a different path in naming the new EV6. In fact, the company’s strategy is quite simple because the ‘EV’ at the beginning of the model name expresses the concept of ‘electric vehicle’.

Kia stated that it will use this naming strategy on all new generation electric models, including the EV6, so that the consumer will not be confused about which Kia model is fully electric. The number after the EV attachment will express the position of that model in the product range.

The new EV6

If we go back to the 2021 Kia EV6, we see that the model, previously known as CV, has a very different design language. In this context, it seems that we cannot see the famous ‘tiger nose’ shutter, even if it is representative. Kia instead used a thin area that appears to be integrated with the new lighting. The new Kia logo is also positioned at the end of the front hood, which looks quite muscular.

The new Kia EV6 offers a dynamic appearance with its low front profile, rearward-slanted windshield and rearward sloping roof. In the electric car, where the wide fenders offer a muscular appearance, hidden door handles are used as seen from the visuals. At the rear of the electric model, the LED stop group, which stretches across the entire length, stands out. As seen from the tip videos, the front and back lights have welcome and departure graphics.

The technical details of the 2021 Kia EV6 are not yet clear, but it will likely be similar to its cousin Hyundai Ioniq 5. In this context, we can expect a four-wheel drive option, as well as battery options of 58 and 72.6 kWh. Ioniq 5 offers a driving range of up to 480 kilometers compared to WLTP with its front-wheel drive version and large battery option.

The electric Kia EV6 will be officially unveiled in the first quarter of this year. We will continue to convey new information to you, our valuable readers, as it becomes available.
