Kia unveiled the EV6, the first car built on the company’s new electric vehicle platform, reflecting the brand’s new design philosophy. New Kia EV6Besides its distinctive design, it manages to attract attention with its impressive features.
We’ve seen the design of the electric Kia EV6 before. Therefore, in this article, we will talk about technical features and numbers. When we look at the dimensions of the EV6, we see that it has a length of 4680 mm, a width of 1880 mm, a height of 1550 mm and a wheelbase of 2900 mm. This makes the new crossover a model 119 mm shorter and 20 mm narrower than another model of the company, the Sorento. But in terms of axle distance, there is 85 mm more than the Sorento, which is very important.
When we look at the interior of the Crossover, there is a long panel behind the two-spoke steering wheel with multimedia keys. 12-inch curved digital display and multimedia screens are on this panel. There is not much information about the multimedia system, but we do know that it has Kia Connect technology that supports OTA updates and real-time services. This means users can view important information such as the nearest charging station, the range needed to get there.
Other noteworthy features of the interior, which we see that there are plenty of leather and suede upholstery, are the head-up display with augmented reality feature and the Meridian sound system with 14 speakers. This system, which has ‘Active Sound Design’ technology, is also responsible for producing an artificial engine sound according to the speed of the vehicle in the interior. In addition, it is also stated that the seats are covered with fabric made from recycled plastics and are very light.
Before moving on to technologies, let’s add that the electric Kia EV6 has 520 liters of luggage volume. This area can be increased to 1300 liters with the rear seats folded down. In addition, there is another 50-liter storage area under the front hood in the EV6’s rear-wheel drive versions. On the all-wheel drive versions, this space is limited to 20 liters.

When we look at the driving assistance systems of the Kia EV6, we see many features such as lane tracking assistant, safe exit assistant, smart parking assistant with remote control and highway driving assistant 2. The latter allows an effective combination of lane centering function and adaptive cruise control, while also allowing automatic lane change with a single touch of the driver’s indicator lever.
In addition to the standard and long-range battery, the electric Kia EV6 offers many different configurations such as rear or all-wheel drive. For example, there is an entry-level 58 kWh battery and a 168 horsepower and 350 Nm electric motor that powers the rear wheels. In the four-wheel drive version of this battery option, another engine is added to the front axle and the total power increases to 232 horsepower and 605 Nm. This enables the EV6 to accelerate from 0-100 km / h in 6.2 seconds.
When the 77.4 kWh battery is preferred, we see a more powerful engine (225 horsepower and 350 Nm) that powers the rear wheels. The four-wheel drive version with a large battery produces a total of 321 horsepower and 605 Nm of torque. In this configuration (in 2WD), the EV6 offers a driving range of 510 kilometers compared to WLTP, and the acceleration time of 0-100 km / h is as low as 5.2 seconds. On the other hand, the range offered by the 58 kWh battery option is not specified.
At the top of the range sits the EV6 GT version as previously described. The version in question can only be chosen with a four-wheel drive system and a large battery option. With a total of 577 horsepower and 740 Nm of torque, the 0-100 km / h acceleration time of the EV6 GT was announced as only 3.5 seconds. The range of the car with a maximum speed of 260 km / h is 405 kilometers.
Let’s get to the details about charging. Built on the new E-GMP platform, the electric crossover has 400V and 800V charging capabilities. This allows the battery to reach 80 percent from 10 percent in just 18 minutes, according to Kia claims (in all versions). In the statement made by the company, it is possible to achieve a range of 100 kilometers in 4.5 minutes with fast charging in the EV6’s long range and rear-wheel drive combination.
Equipped with a highly efficient heat pump to maximize range even in the harshest conditions, the Kia EV6 also has an intelligent regenerative braking system consisting of six different levels. This gives the driver many options, from keeping the energy recovery off to single-pedal driving. There are also paddles that allow the driver to slow down the vehicle easily and quickly and gain kinetic energy.
The new Kia EV6 also has an integrated charge control unit that enables the V2L (vehicle to load) function. This means that you can use the EV6’s battery to charge another electric vehicle or your electronic devices. According to Kia’s example, it is possible to operate an air conditioner and a 55-inch television for more than 24 hours with the EV6’s battery in case of a power failure.
The electric Kia EV6 will be available in some markets this year. The price of the vehicle is not yet clear.
